Vocational Education and Training
St Brendan’s College offers a robust academic program with multiple pathways for students to pursue tertiary education or move directly into trade-based qualifications. Our onsite vocational education and training (VET) facility enables students to gain hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills.
Through our partnerships in the Gateway to Industry Schools Program (GISP), students engage in real-world learning across fields such as Advanced Manufacturing, Agribusiness, Digital Technologies, Tourism, Hydrogen, and Renewable Energies.
Key highlights of our industry partnerships include:
- Advanced Manufacturing (joined 2020): Students participate in a simulated work environment with All Industries.
- Digital Technologies (joined 2020): A collaborative partnership with Livingstone Shire Council has involved students in practical, joint projects.
- Agribusiness (joined 2021): Working on a partnership with Stanbroke to provide students with practical experiences in the agricultural sector.
- Tourism (joined 2022): Students gain valuable hospitality experience working at Hayman Island during peak holiday periods.
- Hydrogen (joined 2023): Students competed in the H2Go Grand Prix at Gladstone, with plans for two teams in 2025, where the winner advances to the World Race.
- Renewable Energies (joined 2024): New initiatives are underway to integrate renewable energy projects into our curriculum.
Our new state-of-the-art STEM building, opened in 2023, further enhances our academic offerings, providing cutting-edge resources to ensure students are well-prepared for future careers. The primary aim of these programs is to foster strong industry-school relationships, offer professional development opportunities for our staff, and provide students with invaluable work experience, apprenticeships, and traineeships.
