SBC to Break Ground on State-of-the-Art Industrial Technology and Innovation Centre

News Thursday, 03 Apr 2025

St Brendan’s College is set to embark on an exciting chapter with the construction of its cutting-edge Industrial Technology and Innovation Centre (IT & IC), commencing in the April holidays. This marks a significant step in the College’s long-term vision for innovation and excellence in industrial education.

The Industrial Technology and Innovation Centre, in conjunction with the Civil Works Project, marks the first stage of the Master Plan developed in 2022. Positioned prominently along Adelaide Park Road and beside the future main entry to the campus, this facility will be integral in supporting increased student numbers and expanding the practical subjects taught at the College. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the College goals of enhancing SBC’s public presence and enriching its educational offerings through dynamic, industry-relevant spaces.

The facility, which will take 62 weeks to complete, is designed to futureproof learning at St Brendan’s College. The first stage of construction will feature two general learning areas, staff amenities and offices, junior woodwork and metalwork areas, a dedicated electrotechnology space, and a construction area with framing zones and masonry training facilities. The centre will be equipped with the latest industry-standard technology, including advanced tooling and equipment, enhanced safety features and sustainability-focused features like solar panels and rainwater collection.

The Industrial Technology and Innovation Centre will form a key part of the educational offering at SBC. Its construction represents a commitment to provide students with immersive learning experiences that bridge the gap between education and industry. The Centre will equip students with practical skills and insights directly applicable to their future careers. This initiative underscores the importance of fostering innovation, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving abilities.

Additionally, the strategic location and design of the IT & IC will support SBC’s community engagement efforts by providing a dedicated meeting space for industry partners and fostering greater collaboration between SBC and trade organisations. This project is a testament to the College’s commitment to drive positive change within the campus community and across the broader industry landscape.
