Meet the 2025 Captains

General Friday, 28 Feb 2025

At St Brendan’s College, leadership is more than just a title—it’s a commitment to service, brotherhood, and upholding the values that define our community. Our 2025 College Captains—Cameron Da Forno, Matthew Bezuidenhout, and Jaxson Wyman—each bring a unique perspective to their roles, embodying the spirit of courage, integrity, and inclusivity. Here’s a glimpse into their leadership journey and aspirations.

Cameron Da Forno – College Captain

Hailing from Katherine, Cameron was inspired by past student leaders and sought to forge his own leadership path. Courage and integrity define his leadership style, qualities he admired in previous captains. One of his most cherished traditions at SBC is the Domestic Violence Awareness Walk, which unites the entire student body for an important cause.

For Cameron, St Brendan’s is more than just a school—it is a community that fosters academic excellence, spiritual growth, and personal development. Without the support of his parents, he believes his path could have been very different. After graduation, he plans to pursue an electrical apprenticeship while continuing to lead by example. His hope is to leave behind a legacy of brotherhood and inclusivity, ensuring every student feels a sense of belonging at SBC.

Matthew Bezuidenhout – Vice Captain

Growing up in Yeppoon, Matthew initially hesitated to take on a leadership role but ultimately embraced the opportunity, recognising it as a chance to contribute meaningfully to the College. His main goal this year is to promote vulnerability among students, particularly in men’s mental health, encouraging open conversations and support among peers.

Matthew values the unique traditions at SBC, especially the three big cheers given in recognition of student achievements. He believes the College stands out for its vast opportunities, catering to every student’s interests. Looking ahead, he aspires to study law and become a contracting lawyer, using the skills he has developed as Vice Captain—communication, responsibility, and leadership—to shape his future career.

Jaxson Wyman – Boarding Captain

As a boarder from Mitchell, Jaxson understands the responsibility of being a leader within the SBC community. He acknowledges that leadership is not about a title but about consistently leading by example. His advice to younger students is simple: leadership starts long before you wear the badge—it is about showing character in every action.

Jaxson’s passion lies in sports medicine and physiotherapy, and he plans to pursue this field at university immediately after graduation. He hopes to leave behind a legacy of brotherhood, inspiring students to step out of their comfort zones while carrying themselves with respect and kindness—the very values instilled at St Brendan’s College.
