Old Boy's Foundation (Alumni)

St Brendan’s College Foundation Ltd is a not-for-profit company dedicated to supporting the development of St Brendan’s College and its students. Governed by a board of directors appointed by its members, the Foundation is a separate entity while remaining a controlled entity of the College. The College Principal serves as an ex-officio company director. The Foundation's accounts are audited by the College Auditor. The company is registered with the Australian Charities & Not-For-Profits Commission. The company’s constitution, annual returns, and audited financial statements can be viewed by typing ABN 31 010 999 774 into the search field at the ACNC website.

HISTORY

The Foundation was established in 1989 in advance of the College's Golden Jubilee and raised almost $1 million for the College until it suspended its activities in the 2010s. Below is a historical list of directors of the company:

  7. Russell Searles (SBC 1962), 2 February 1992 to 26 August 1999
  8. John William Smith (SBC 1958), 17 September 1992 to 26 August 1999
  9. Peter William McKenna (SBC, 1965), 29 May 2007 to 12 March 2015

In 2015, responsibility for the company was handed to Cameron Wright (SBC 1986-88), Mark Boyd 1979-83, and Cale Dendle (1986-90) along with the College Principal. Since that time, the Foundation has focused its fundraising efforts on a series of events, including the inaugural Foundation Race Day, Foundation Golf Day, Foundation AGM Dinner, Ladies Night, Brisbane Sportsman’s Dinner, Old Boys XV vs Rockhampton Grammar Rugby Match, and regional Old Boy Dinners/Functions.

In April 2020, John McKenna (Founding Director and Chairman 1989 to 2015) was admitted as the Foundation’s first Life Member, followed by Ken Dooley (1992-2015) in April 2022.

Membership is encouraged for all SBC Old Boys, current and past parents, and friends of the College. The membership fees are as follows:

  • $20 per annum for Year 12 School Leavers
  • $100 per annum for members
  • $200 per annum family membership for up to four members.
